One process, costed

One process · about ten minutes · nobody sees it but you

Nobody has ever mapped this process. Let's fix that in ten minutes.

Tell me how one process actually runs, step by step. You'll see what it costs you over a year, worked out from your own numbers.

It is a mirror, not a quote, and there is no wrong answer. Nothing reaches me unless you press Send at the end, and your answers stay in this browser until then.

£2m+ of staff time has already been tracked in business processes mapped with this tool. Almost none of it had ever been added up before.

What happens next

Eight steps. This page is the first four.

The tool I map processes with works in eight steps. The first four describe the process as it runs today. The second four change it, and that's the part we do together.

Here, on your own

  1. Who's involvedThe roles that touch it, and what an hour of their time costs.
  2. The processWhat starts it, what finishes it, and how often it runs.
  3. The mapEvery step, who does it, and how long it takes.
  4. Where it hurtsWhere it sits waiting, and which steps add value, have to happen, or could go.

With me, on a call or in the room

  1. The better wayEach step redesigned, with every change shown against the step it touches.
  2. The caseToday against the redesign, in hours and pounds, with the working shown.
  3. What we'd buildThe tools and connections that would do it, using the systems you already have where they can.
  4. Who does what nextEvery change with a name, a date and a status, so it happens after the meeting ends.

Already mapped it?

Then you're halfway there.

Most maps stop at the drawing. The bit I add is putting times and money on it. Paste the steps straight into the tool above, or copy two columns from a spreadsheet (step and time) and the times come across with them.

If it's a flowchart, a Visio file or a photo of a whiteboard, send it over as it is. It goes into the tool as the starting point, exactly as you drew it, and the blanks are what we fill in together.

Rather talk it through?

Twenty minutes on a call and I'll fill it in with you on screen.

Your answers are kept in this browser so you can come back to them. Nothing is sent anywhere until you press Send. When you do, your answers and the figures come to me through the website's form service, and nobody else. Start again clears them from this browser.
